2025: My vision
"New year, new me."
That’s what I’m supposed to say, right?
I’m supposed to charge into the year with gusto, radiating so much energy you’d need sunglasses just to look at me. I’d shout, “This is going to be my year!!”
Yeah… no. I’m not doing that. I like who I was at the end of 2024.
2024 me had plans, ideas, and goals—and he followed through on them as best as he could. 2025 me? He’s just going to keep that momentum going.
New year, same me… times 1000. I’m not changing; I’m multiplying. (Okay, I know that might sound a little cringy.)
I’m posting this to hold myself accountable—a reminder for those moments when I feel unmotivated.
Here are my goals for 2025.
Goal 1: Operation 150
In 2024, I finally started a blog. After more than two years of just talking about it, I took the leap—and I love it. It may not be the most focused blog (yet), but it’s mine, and I plan to grow it.
By the end of 2025, my goal is to have 150 unique blog posts published. Specifically, I want to write 150 Afrodoc Diaries posts. While I’ll be posting other types of content (more on that shortly), only the Afrodoc Diaries entries will count toward this target.
There are 52 weeks in a year. Hitting 150 posts means I’ll need to publish roughly three posts a week.
It’s a big challenge, but I believe I can do it.
Goal 2: Teaching
Teaching is my thing. I love it. If you let me, I could talk for days about a subject I’m passionate about.
They say you should combine your passion, hobbies, and work. That’s exactly what I’m doing:
- Passion: Teaching
- Hobby: Writing
- Work: Medicine
This year, I plan to create content that helps medical students in my country, across the continent—and who knows, maybe even around the world.
After surveying medical students, I’ve identified key challenges they face and areas where I can make a difference. As a result, I’m launching a new section on my website called 'Medical Students'.
This section will feature a variety of resources designed to help medical students feel more confident and improve their skills. But I won’t stop there—I also plan to expand into other forms of media, which brings me to my next goal…
Goal 3: YouTube
During my survey of medical students, I asked which social media platform they used most for studying. The overwhelming answer? YouTube.
I’ve been thinking about starting a YouTube channel for a while, but honestly, I’ve been hesitant—partly due to shyness and partly because I know it’s going to require a lot of effort.
But this year, I’m going for it. Pray for me—this might be my toughest goal yet.
Here’s the plan: Launch a YouTube channel dedicated to teaching medical students how to bridge the gap between basic sciences and clinical sciences.
My target is to publish 20 videos by the end of the year. I know it’s going to be a challenge, but I’m determined. I’ll do it... just don’t forget to pray for me.
Goal 4: LinkedIn
As I work to support medical students, I also want to formally document my thoughts, achievements, and perspectives. LinkedIn feels like the perfect platform for this—it offers opportunities to connect with like-minded individuals and explore potential collaborations.
A lot of my LinkedIn content will overlap with Afrodoc Diaries, but with a more professional focus.
My goal: Launch a LinkedIn newsletter by the end of the year.
Goal 5: Bible
When I first started this blog, I included a section for my thoughts and musings on the Bible and Christian topics. For a while, I considered taking it down, but I’ve decided to keep it.
Hopefully, it will benefit someone out there.
Actually, as I’m writing this, I’m toying with a new idea: Why not incorporate my Bible reflections into Afrodoc Diaries? After all, what is a diary if not a collection of musings?
You know what? That’s exactly what I’ll do. I’ll fold my Bible thoughts and Christian reflections into Afrodoc Diaries.
Thank you for helping me process this as I wrote it down.
The goal is simple: Keep writing Christian content.
Whisper 1: Stories
This isn’t a goal—it’s a dream, a hope.
When I started this blog, I included a section called Stories, where I planned to write fantasy fiction—my dream.
But right now, I’m not sure I’ll be able to make that happen. So, I’ve decided to take down the Stories section.
Still, in my heart, I hope for a chance to bring it back someday. So I’m whispering this dream to the wind. Let’s see where it carries me.
Conclusion
That’s it—five goals and a whisper. I’m determined to see them all through. Check back here in December 2025 for a full review.
